![]() Topic: Choosing from CBSE or ICSE ???Posted: 04-May-2009 at 12:28pm |

Hi all,
My son is 3 yrs old and I had already taken admission in an icse school with montessary method for initial years... however as we r shifting from this place , 'am forced to take him him to a different branch of the same school.. Iam a little confused... should I be looking for a cbse school or continue with Icse... I have studied both... I know for a fact that icse is tuffer. 'am I correct in saying that there is a lot of irrelevance in the icse stream of education ... would cbse be more appropriate in terms of its practicality... I have browsed number of websites.. Is it better for him to continue in icse till class 8/10 and then switch over to cbse.. i wud be happy to know as to what all of u think about this... |

i hav studied in ICSE Board school and i luv the board though it is tuffier.
I prefer ICSE Board bcoz in all other boards the selection of study stream is done in 9th standard but in ICSE Board in 11th standard. So in 9th & 10th Standard they make us study basics of both Commerce and science which other Board lacks. For eg. i hav studied from Commerce backGround but has enough knowledge of Basic science. i know abt blood, Brain, Heart, Kidney, Basic chemistry, Basic Physics. So i think my knowledge is more than compared to a student studied from other boards and i hav checked it in real. Avinash |

yes avinash, i completely agree with u icse is no doubt exhaustive... i went from a cbse board to join icse for my class 10/11/12 ... though i took up science, i did have economics as an optional subject in class 10... however for admissions to certain colleges icse students loose out (only when the basis of admission is class 12 marks) a bit since their syllabus is exhaustive and they r considered in the same lines as those students from cbse/state board both of which i believe r easier to score.. hence the confusion... knowledge wise icse is second to none.. |

u r right choose ICSE till 10th and then switch to CBSE Board but the basic thing is does the child want to switch. when a child studies in a school from last 10 years he or she hardly wants to switch. As for score the thing is that if ur child is taking addmission in any proffesional course the 4-5 % doesnot matter but while addmision in graduation courses than it do matter. Avinash |

Every school (whichever board it might be) produces Toppers & Failures. Get the info about good schools with best results & most importantly experienced teachers when choosing the school. Put less stress on the board. I and my siblings have changed diff boards all thru'out our school life. Due to change of states from time to time. Never had a problem. Ur foundation shud be good. |
